Sweating on the face, head or scalp is usually a natural thing. When you exercise or get too warm, the body releases sweat to cool down the body. Sometimes head sweats are set off by strong emotions like nerves or stress.
We usually sweat to keep our body temperature constant. Sweat evaporating from the skin creates a cooling effect for the body. When the body is producing much more sweat than it needs to keep cool, this is called hyperhidrosis.
Craniofacial hyperhidrosis is defined as excessive sweating of the face and forehead. Specifically, it causes excessive sweating of the scalp, nose, chin and cheeks. Primary hyperhidrosis has an earlier onset and has no known underlying cause.
Is excessive facial or forehead sweat getting in the way of life? Anxiety, stress, medications, diet, and climate are all possible causes of profuse face sweating. This type of excessive sweating is called hyperhidrosis.
Everyone sweats. People commonly sweat most from their face, head, underarms, hands, feetand groin. If you sweat excessively from your head and face, in particular, you may have a condition known as craniofacial hyperhidrosis.
